Sisters of Mary Brazil: Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
Although Brazil has experienced economic growth in recent years, millions of families still struggle to meet basic needs. In Northeastern Brazil, where the Sisters of Mary conduct most of their outreach, extreme poverty remains widespread. Many families lack access to clean water, electricity, and proper sanitation. Children often leave school to help support their households. To address these challenges, the Sisters of Mary Brazil have been providing life-changing care since 2001.
At the Girlstown school in Brasília, the Sisters educate and care for girls from the most impoverished communities in the country. In Sao Paulo, they operate an elementary school for boys and girls in grades 1 to 5, offering a safe place to learn and grow. Through these programs, children in poverty gain access to education, nutrition, and support—giving them a chance at a better future.
Every day, these programs change lives—and all of it is made possible through the generosity of donors like you. With your help, the Sisters of Mary can continue to provide education, hope, and opportunity for children who need it most.
