History has been made.
Today, we rejoice as 162 fearless young women—the very first graduates of Kisarawe Girlstown, step forward into a future they once only dreamed of. Six years ago, they arrived as pioneers, walking onto a campus still under construction, daring to believe in a life beyond poverty. Now, they leave as scholars, leaders, and changemakers, forever altering the trajectory of their families, their communities, and their nation.
From Empty Grounds to a Thriving Legacy
When these girls first entered Kisarawe Girlstown, the brave first class of the Sisters of Mary’s first-ever program in Africa, they studied amid the sounds of construction, watched dormitories rise from the earth, and welcomed wave after wave of new students, staff, and Sisters as the school grew to nearly 1,000 girls.
They were trailblazers, shaping the culture of the school, mentoring younger girls, and proving that education can dismantle poverty
Stories of Transformation: Happiness
We spoke with one remarkable graduate about her journey.
Happiness, her voice thick with emotion, said: “Before, my life was horrible. I did not have the vision to be human. But now, I see something ahead in my life.”
These words are testaments to resurrection. Where there was once despair, there is now dignity, ambition, and unstoppable hope.
Why This Graduation Changes Everything
At Kisarawe Girlstown, the Sisters of Mary empower future leaders by providing academic excellence, vocational training, and moral formation.
These 162 graduates are walking proof:
- They will secure dignified work, breaking cycles of poverty.
- They will lift up their families, sending siblings to school, parents to doctors.
- They will serve their communities because compassion was woven into their education.
