My name is Keyli. I am from La Paz. Presently, I am studying in The Sisters of Mary School Girlstown, Honduras.
My father is Jesus, who has dedicated his life in soldering. My mother’s name is Grisselda, who is a housekeeper. I was born in 2006, when my parents were only 15 years of age. They worked very hard to sustain the family´s needs. At the age of three, my mother used to bring me to where she worked and there I met an accident and was interned in a hospital for 6 months. The doctors told my parents that there will be a possibility to lose my left arm. It was a hard time for my parents because they had to pay the hospital bill, my medicines and at the same time my younger brother Bryan was only 5 years old and he needed someone to take care of him. This was how time went by, always doing therapies and thanks to my parents, I recovered and am now able to count with my two hands.
Due to my family´s low income, I made the entrance exam at the Sisters of Mary School Girlstown, Honduras and was accepted in 2019. My first day in the school was the saddest day of my life because I left my family and would be living far away from them. But I was so impressed on how the sisters treat us, looking at the building and the classrooms, the great number of girls that are present here, I felt so grateful to be part of this new and beautiful place.
The thing that I liked the most here in the Girlstown is the love, dedication and patience that the sisters have for us and the academic and spiritual formations as well.
Last year, I went home for vacation and received sad news that my parents were separated and each one lived in different places. This made me sad and discouraged but with the help of the sisters, they inspired me each day to continue with my life´s journey to be able to graduate someday in Economic and Industrial Engineering. It would be very hard to forget the sisters because they have been my second home. After graduating here in the Girlstown, my life would be different. I would be a virtuous, disciplined and well-educated woman and be able to help my family in different ways.
I would like to give thanks to the benefactors for the help that you have given us. With your generosity, we can do different activities. We can be persons with great intelligence and lastly, we can pursuit our dreams in life. Thank you very much. May God bless and care for you every day.
