Our Girlstown in Silang, Cavite, Philippines recently had the great honor of hosting US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Y. Kim and Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez! One of the most noted aspects of the visit? Our students’ composure and poise.
Throughout an article published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer, attention is brought back to the level of care provided by the Sisters of Mary, and the result it has on our students. Guidance here goes beyond an excellent education; self confidence, empowerment, and an instilment of values are all key to our students’ successes. Our Girlstown students made an impression on their distinguished guests by remaining polished and attentive throughout the visit.
As anyone familiar with our students might anticipate, they also embraced this visit as an opportunity to showcase their many talents. The Girlstown Handbell Ensemble, the Boystown Choir, and the Girlstown Dance Group all performed, and all our young women sang a “song of gratitude”. Both diplomats enjoyed the music and dance, and stressed the value of the long-standing relationship between the United States and the Philippines.
We are so proud of all our students, but particularly of our young women in Cavite this week. A heartfelt “Thank You” to both Ambassadors, as well as the Philippine Daily Inquirer, for highlighting the hard work of our students, as well as the Sisters of Mary, who have successfully graduated 63,000 students in the Philippines since 1985.
