The Sisters Of Mary

The Sisters of Mary are devoted to helping the poorest of the poor in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. The religious order was founded by Aloysius Schwartz, the priest of the poor. The Sisters have been operating charitable programs for more than fifty years serving children with the greatest need who have the greatest potential. In 6 countries there are 400 Sisters of Mary caring for over 21,000 children with the mission of helping them break free from a life of poverty. This is one day in the life of a Sister.

Chalco

I am Sister Zelzy. I currently serve in Girlstown, Villa de las Niñas, in Chalco, Mexico. We take care of almost 3,500 young girls here.

I am a proud graduate of the Sisters of Mary World Villages for Children Girlstown Villa de las Niñas in Chalco, Mexico. As a student, I admired the work of The Sisters and how they gave themselves to the service of others without receiving anything in return, just out of love in the name of Christ Jesus. I felt an inclination toward being a Sister, but it was not my plan. Yet, God’s plans are very different from mine. On December 24, 2020, I professed my vows as a Sister of Mary, a day of great joy. I felt flooded with the grace of the Holy Spirit. It has been an honor, a grace, and a privilege for me because God has deigned to accept me to cooperate in the salvation of souls.

What inspires me to continue every day in the service of souls is that the children come from homes with a lot of suffering and pain. I think our lives are similar. They need some human and spiritual comfort. For me, the children are a great source of inspiration. I dearly admire them because, despite all difficulties, they do their best to get ahead. It is a great responsibility to care for the children because they are souls that will go into the world to be lit candles just as Father Al, our founder, wanted. God knows how to use every opportunity to sanctify them.

My favorite part of the day is when I pray because all the strength and energy I need to give myself to the poor comes from my prayer. I love working with youth and being in their midst. They brighten my day. They fill me because it is Jesus Himself in them.

I am very sure that God makes everything work for the good of those who love Him. These souls I care for and my soul are one in Christ. Therefore, my greatest ambition is that each of the children under my care become holy children of the Heavenly Father. May their life be another living gospel where others can read the life of Jesus Christ. Please remember their souls in your prayers.

Thank you for your support, for without you, our benefactors, we would not be able to do this work. God Bless you.
