Trafficking Is Real. And It’s Closer Than We Think.

“An estimated 50 million people are trapped in modern slavery worldwide—many of them children.”
— International Labour Organization (via National Catholic Register)

The film Sound of Freedom stirred hearts by revealing the horror of child trafficking. But long before the headlines, the Sisters of Mary were on the ground, protecting children from the worst kinds of suffering.

The Sisters of Mary: A Hidden Force for Good

With quiet courage and strong faith, the Sisters of Mary go where others cannot—reaching children abandoned in slums, living on the streets, or trapped in cycles of poverty and abuse. These children are often invisible to the world, but not to the Sisters.

“The Sisters offered me their hand to pull me out of the hole; then they offered me the other hand to help me walk. They put me on top of the world. They told me I could change my life and I believed them.”
— Ernesto, Guadalajara Boystown student

In their schools across the Philippines, Mexico, Brazil, Guatemala, Tanzania, and Honduras, the Sisters provide more than food and shelter. They offer dignity. They restore innocence. They raise children in faith, educate them for a better future, and surround them with love.

A Safe Haven for the Forgotten

When children arrive at the Sisters’ schools, they carry invisible wounds: poverty, abandonment, fear, and sometimes trauma from abuse or exploitation. But here, they find healing. They find joy. They find a family.

In the care of the Sisters, thousands of boys and girls have discovered their worth as children of God. Through education, spiritual formation, and loving community, they are raised to survive and to become leaders, professionals, and people of faith.
